[Media Release - 23 May 2018]  Veteran hotelier Wolfgang Grimm is the new President of Skal International Thailand (SIT), the statutory body that oversees the activities of all Skal clubs across the Kingdom. He was elected at the SIT Annual General Meeting on 19 May 2018.  

Wolfgang Grimm is Vice President of Andamana Hotels Krabi embracing three resorts: Aonang Cliff Beach Resort, Crown Lanta Resort and Spa and the Alisea Boutique Hotel.  He is also President of the Skal Club in Krabi which was launched in July 2015 and is enjoying considerable success with membership growth and significant, influential support from the Governor of Krabi, Police Lt. Col. Kitibodee Pravitra.

Outgoing Skal Thailand President Dale Lawrence, who stepped down from office after serving the maximum two consecutive two-year terms, congratulated Wolfgang Grimm on his election and wished him every success at club and at national level. The presidential chain was presented to Wolfgang Grimm during a dinner hosted by Skal Krabi on 19 May at the Sofitel Phokeethra Golf and Spa Resort.

About Wolfgang Grimm
Inspired by Thai culture and nature, Wolfgang Grimm’s hotel life is culminating in the development of his own Green Globe certified boutique lifestyle resort ANANA in Krabi Thailand slated to open October 2018. Wolfgang is a third generation son of a German hoteliers family with 50 years experience in hospitality and a distinguished 25 year career in senior management positions with InterContinental Hotels in Europe, Asia and Australia.
A career highlight was in 1989 becoming General Manager Intercontinental Sydney for eight years making significant contributions to the Australian hospitality. As chairman of the Australian Hotels Association and Tourism NSW he was the catalyst to new directions in Australian tourism, leading to his appointment to the committee of the Sydney Olympic Bid winning the hosting of the 2000 Olympic Games Sydney.
His passion for integrated education led to the creation of the InterContinental Hotel School Sydney, which is now part of Southern Cross University awarding BA degrees in hotel management. He is a Fellow of Southern Cross University Lismore and his leadership in tourism, education, environment and community was rewarded with an AM Order of Australia.
Promoted to Regional VP Operations InterContinental Hotels Australasia and General Manager of the Grand InterContinental Seoul with the company’s largest food and beverage operation in the world, he oversaw the building and opening of the Coex InterContinental in the Korea World Trade Center complex and project managed the creation of InterContinental Chongqing, China.
He retired at the age of 55 from InterContinental, moving to Sydney and his Hunter Valley vineyard property in 2002. His hospitality advisory for Roche Group Hunter Valley and THL Hotels operating urban hotels, resorts and lodges in Australia/NZ, Asia Pacific and Europe led 2012 to his appointment as owner representative in and now VP of Andamana Hotels Krabi with three resorts - Aonang Cliff Beach Resort, Crown Lanta Resort & Spa and Alisea Boutique Hotel, (two achieving Hall of Fame TripAdvisor status).
His passion for Sustainable Tourism became apparent when adding a private Andamana ECO Beach Club to the hotel portfolio and now he is embarking on the creation of his Ecological Concept Resort ANANA and Permaculture Art Farm in Ao Nang, Krabi.
